Your personal data is only accessible to the few site administrators unless you have chosen to make it visible. Site administrators are obliged to protect your confidentiality. You can see more information about how the Open Social technology ensures compliance with the EU regulations here: GDPR (General Data Privacy Regulation).

We will only use your personal contact details to contact you in relation to this site, but generally we will use the site itself for communications and shouldn't need to use your email.

Any personal information you provide to us including and similar to your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address will not be released, sold, or rented to any entities or individuals outside of the Coalition for Community Energy. Site Security

Remember The Risks Whenever You Use The Internet. While we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information that you transmit to us and you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of any passwords or other account information. In addition other Internet sites or services that may be accessible through our site have separate data and privacy practices independent of us, and therefore we disclaim any responsibility or liability for their policies or actions. Please contact those vendors and others directly if you have any questions about their privacy policies.

We are currently running the site from a local server and we will be looking to work with the user community if the site scales up to ensure that risks and security are adequately dealt with.

Your public activity

This is a social site and everything you post is visible to three possible groups:

Public - we are encouraging groups to make content and group activities public. This information will be visible to anyone on the internet.

Open - comments are only visible to users who are logged in. Open groups are easy to join and your content and comments will be visible to anyone who has joined the group.

Closed - the group managers control who can join the group in closed groups, and most of the information is only visible to group members.

Deleting your account

The following links give some idea about the control you have when you close your account.

Feeling comfortable?

This site tries to find the right balance between developing a trusting community that can build great things together vs working openly enough to invite new people in to help our sector grow. While we can't always guarantee privacy in the big bad world of social media, we can set up the best structures and build a positive culture to make this space as safe as possible.
